Bad luck for Marc de Reuver in home Grand Prix in Valkenswaard
The Martin Honda rider Marc de Reuver has only scored points in the first moto at the first round of the World Championship Series in Valkenswaard last weekend. The rider from Lommel had to retire in the second moto because of a broken chain. In the first moto Marc finished in eight position.
On Saturday things went well for Marc. Despite the heavy circumstances he felt confident on the bike and was able to set some fast times in both free practice sessions. In qualifying Marc nearly took the pole position but in the closing stages Ken de Dijcker was just a little bit faster than Marc so he had to be satisfied with second position.
The start of the first moto wasn’t good and outside the top ten he went into the first corner. Marc managed to pass several riders in the first couple of corners and moved into ninth position at the end of the first lap. In the beginning of the race Marc couldn’t find a good rhythm and due this his arms started to pump up. Despite this he was able to work himself up to seventh position. Due a crash in the second part of the moto he dropped back to ninth position. Soon after the crash he took over eight position and held on to this position till the chequered flag.
In the second moto Marc’s chain broke during the first lap and he had to retire from the race.
Marc finished in thirteenth position overall in Valkenswaard. In two weeks time the next Grand Prix will be held in Bellpuig, Spain.
