Ankle injury for Marc de Reuver

Martin Honda rider Marc de Reuver injured his ankle at the first round of the Dutch Open Championship Series. In time practice Marc’s foot got snagged off the peg in a rutted corner, resulting in an ankle injury. Marc’s ankle is not broken and when everything goes well he will be back at his home Grand Prix in Valkenswaard.

After some races on foreign soil, Marc was motivated to race in front of his home crowd again. During time training for the Dutch Championship event, he was near the top of the leader board during qualifying training when the accident happened. Marc's foot got snagged off the peg in a rutted corner, resulting in an ankle injury.

On Sunday the primary diagnosis was that he had broken his ankle. Marc returned to the hospital for a scan on Monday, and it seems that the ankle is not in fact broken. It appears that there is some cartilage damage as well as a stretched ligament in his ankle.

Marc will resume fitness training next Thursday. In the last weekend of March, he can step on the bike again. If all goes well, the Martin Honda rider will be able to participate at the GP of Valkenswaard, scheduled for April 6th.
