Carrickfergus & District Motorcycle Club
Grasstrack Championship Report

The 1st round of the Carrickfergus & District Motorcycle Club Grasstrack Championship kicked off in perfect conditions last Wednesday evening at Loughside Farm in Islandmagee. With the sunny weather bringing out the crowds they were treated for a night of close racing from some of Co.Antrims finest!

Ricky Watt

In the Pro A class Niall McAuly was a winner in race 1 and 3 and second in race 2, these fine results have Niall on top of the championship with 3 rounds to go. Phil Harris and Richard Watt both enjoyed close racing with each getting a top 3 finish.

Jordan Scott

In Pro B Class William Saunderson and Davey Mulligan both finished well followed by Newtownabbeys Darren Grills on the 2 stroke Suzuki, a earlier crash forced Darren into last but he quickly remounted and done well to finish.

Chris Lappin

In Pro Solos Class which consisted of 30 riders Michael Mooney and TM mounted Chris Lappin had a few hard fought races with Chris taking the last race and gaining full points.

Michael Taggart

The Quad class started with 15 riders all ready for action and they enjoyed every minute of it round the twisty circuit. Michael Taggart and Geoffery Ingram Jnr both had a win and will be looking forward to the next race on Wednesday 28th May.

Paul Harkness

In the Youth Class 10 year old Jay McCrum from Newtownabbey dominated all 3 races with 3 superb wins on his Arco KTM, although he never got the hole shot but he managed to progress through the field to the delight of the bumper crowd.

With the countdown now on for the next race at Loughside Farm, everyone one is looking forward to the event.
