Team GOMX365 -Irish Motocross Championship
Round Three : Athlone
Ross Brown: GOMX/Russell's Motorcycles /Solas Suzuki 250 /450
Ross completed lap one in eighth position, his GOMX /Russell's 450 Suzuki was working well around the excellently prepared Doon circuit. Ross enjoyed a race long battle with Darren Leonard , which drove his on to finish in 3rd Position.
Moto two was shaping up to be another top three finish, with only three laps remaining Ross was sidelined with a technical failure.
Coming around in eighteenth place at the end of the first lap , Ross had his work cut out for him. With twenty riders capable of finishing in the top four a good start is essential to success in this class.
Charging forward the entire moto, Ross run out of time after closing down the leading group - 7th Position.
Moto Two :
Forth coming out of the first corner was always going to create an opportunity for the Nass based rider.
Ross moved into the lead in lap five , and remained at the front for the following five laps.
With three laps remaining Ross was feeling the pace, four races around this extremely rugged circuit was taking its toll.
Ross decided racing for second place was a better option than crashing down the leader board trying to keep Gary Gibson at bay. 2nd Position.
Mike Sinton: GOMX /JRM Honda 250/450
Collecting the “Holeshot “ Cash and leading the pack at the end of lap one, this should have been Mike's chance to win another race at this venue.
With his shoulder still giving bother and lacking in confidence at the moment , Mike became tense and arm pump ensued.
Mike's clutch fried on the line, resulting in another turbulent experience.
Thirty seconds behind last place after a first corner crash , Mike manhandled the stricken GOMX/JRM Honda home in -
“I could not seem to focus on the job , I was riding tight and my arms went solid” quoted a disappointed Mike.
Finished 6th Position.
Mike Huddelson: GOMX /Kelly Glass Honda
Flying the flag in the competitive amateur
Taking Pole Position in Qualification was proof enough that Michael's speed is improving every week.
Moto One: After a race long battle , Mike relented one place , as his sights are on the winning the War rather than a Battle. 2nd Position
Moto Two: Third from lap one , Mike stalked his prey before making a decisive move on lap six. Taking both the race win and the lead in the series with five rounds remaining. 1st Position
“I am really enjoying my racing, it's all about taking what you learn during training and putting it out there come race day. Keeping clam and focused helps me from getting arm pump and my winter gym work has brought my fitness on for sure” smiled the your pretender.
It's good to see Ross taking podium finishes in both MX1 /MX2 races. His speed continues to improve as does his confidence, if he gets a start he is a regular top three finisher.
Mike is suffering with shoulder problems – since Dislocating his right shoulder in March he has riding with this in his mind. It's a confidence rather than physical issue that we will work through together over the coming weeks.
Michael Huddleson , what can I say – his times are improving every week. Winning the Irish Championship is his goal , but with five rounds remaining it's best to keep focused on only the next race.
We have a break for two weeks , which by then we should see the return of Thomas O' Grady to complete the Team GOMX squad.
